Who are we?

The Friends of St Mary’s provides financial support to assist the church community in preserving and enhancing it, as a valuable heritage and community asset. St Mary’s is the oldest (1284) and the only grade 1 listed building in the town. We are a non-religious organisation, independent of the church and its council. All money raised by the Friends comes from regular giving, grant applications and fund raising events and is spent on the building for the good of the whole community. The Friends was established in 2007 and is a registered charity (1121282). We are proud to have Sir Roy Strong as our patron.

Our Aim

We work for ‘the preservation, restoration, improvement and development of the church buildings, fabric, fixtures, fittings, stained glass, ornaments, monuments … belonging to the church of St Mary the Virgin, Ross-on-Wye’.

The Friends Committee is currently:
Bill Fulp – Chair
Rustie Baker
Chris Bartum
Graham John – Treasurer
Eleanor Kercher
Teresa Newman
Mark Sanderson – Secretary
Caroline Utting

Please consider supporting us by becoming a Friend. Look out too for our events.

Thanks for organizing last night’s talk which continues the excellent provision of thought-provoking and stimulating events that light up living in Ross.
